Week Day Off
What would you do with a weekday off? You would probably do something constructive like getting your oil changed, or laundry, or going to the dentist. I had today off and didn't do any of those things. Here's what I did. I wanted to get some new suits for work, my mardrobe is severly lacking these days. So I start at the bargain basement: JC Penny. I ask the guy for a dark blue suit and he says, "oh boy...I don't if we have anything like that..." Huh? Who doesn't sell a dark blue suit? He pulls something shiny and bright blue off the rack that's cut halfway down my thighs. If I were starting my new job as a pimp, this is the suit I would buy. Well its my fault for trying the bargain basement anyway, right? So I try for something a little more high class. On to Macy's. Macy's had some nice suits, but no one to help you find what you need and price tags that scared me away. Time to try the old standby, Men's Wearhouse. Both times I've been to men's wearhouse has been a good experience. They set upon you like vultures, but are able to immediately size you up and pull just want you need from the rack. This time, I got no love. I walk in, and there isn't anyone there. Some chick helping out another guy and nobody else. I can't pick out a suit on my own, I'd be lost. I walk around for a few minutes hoping to spotted by a salesmen on break or something. No dice. I walk out of Men's Wearhouse and get the hell out of the mall as fast as I could. All the suit buying wind had been taken out of my sails. By this time it's like 11am. (I hit the Mall pretty early so I can't really blame them for not having their A-teams on.) Inevitably I begin to think of lunch. Lunch is a very important activity in the weekday off. It signals the turn from morning to afternoon. So what should I don for lunch. McDonalds was screaming for me, but I didn't want this to turn into a McDonald's day. I resisted. Besides I still needed to kill about a 45 minutes before it was even acceptable to eat lunch. I decided to do what I do about every six months. Buy some comics. I head over to comics oddessey over by PCC. Because I don't buy regularly and single issues just whet the appetite i was looking at the collected editions. Damn they got expensive! What used to cost me $10 was now $25. Oh well, the quality of the paper and ink have gone way up so I guess it is what it is. I settled on a Marvel collection called Civil War where heroes fight against each other over whether they should register and work for the government. Pretty good so far. Anyone know when spidey changed in to an ultra gay red and gold costume, with Doc Oc style spider legs attached? I call Shenanigans on that.
So I head home with my new comic and an idea for lunch. Rolled Chicken Tacos from trader joes. Yummy. When I get home, I decide to couple the three tacos with some mac and cheese also from trader joes. Oh yeah and a bottle of beer (bad pete). I put in my netflix rental 12 Monkeys and I'm off. I watch 12 Monkeys. (Say what you will about him, Brad Pitt is good in that.) I read my comic, I start to doze off.....................................NO! This isn't a doze off day either. So I just sit for awhile, avoiding the news, I'm not in the mood to hear about the random violence at Virginia Tech today. I could go hiking, I could get my oil changed, I could try another Men's Wearhouse, there are a million things I could be doing. Not the least of which is checking my work email or voicemail so I don't walk into 20 messages tommorow. I just can't get motivated to any of it. So instead, I decide to engage in the creative activity of blogging. Maybe the brain stimulation will spark something useful. Well, that was the last 6 hours. I guess we'll see what the rest of the day holds.

Long Time... No Post
Hey all of you guys out on the site. Anyhoo I was just gonna give you a quick update on what's up with me and more cool stuff. So I am now working at AC Co. Which is the big store we have here in Cordova. It's kinda like a toned down WalMart it has more groceries but it sells electronics, clothes, fishing equipment, and even guns and ammo ( and I'm not talking about the magazine). I left my job at The Reluctant Fisherman Restaurant where I was washing dishes. Not to be cocky but I thought I was better than that job and always thought of that job as a temporary job anyway. But now I have a new job but instead of the 50 percent discount I had for food at The Reluctant Fisherman I have a 15 percent discount at the store. But wait I can't use it for groceries that includes alcohol. I can use it for electronics, DVD's, fishing stuff, and probably guns. I don't need any of that stuff. I also work up at the register which is alot better than working with produce which is what I did my first 2 days but after I cut my thumb I told the manager I would perform better with customer service and he put me up at the front. I think I did pretty well too on friday and saturday. But this is temporary so I filled out an application for a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Job at the airport here. I take a test on wednesday and if I do well at it they will schedule an interview with me. I know I don't know alot about security but I bet you all of the guys knew nothing either before they got a job. This place is filled with crazy people too. Some bad stuff has happened too. I gave my dad 550 bucks to buy me a xbox360 with 2 games and a remote while he was in Anchorage. He bought it but before the day he left he found it was taken from his hotel room. I was furious when I heard this. He had no receipt either it was in the bag too. But he had the extended warranty from best buy which had his address and he gave it to them and got the serial number and gave it to the cops. Well this wednesday best buy told us it was returned on friday. So the person who stoile it got almost 600+ dollars that's not right. The manager didn't help either saying he was not responsible and wouldn't tell my Dad who cleaned the rooms that day. So I think he was in on it and you can't split a game system but you can split money. It sucks. Now I think he should've locked it in his car and that would've prevented this but whatever. Now he says he will get me another one which is not fair to either him or me. We are not rolling in cash here. But anyways I'm planning for a Vegas Trip in July and the tentative date will be july 9-11. But of course if I get another job I might be busy with that and I'm trying to get a girl to go who is in the same situation (might be busy with a job) she's getting a degree so she will probably getting interviews for a career job and I don't want her to give up a good careet to go to vegas. But I will let you in on more info about vegas as soon as I get it. I will try to blog my top 5 blogs written by me soon. But I need to go to sleep. Lates Guys.

another awkward pirroette is the general direction of hope and joy...
The problem: Rent+ Bills = need for money= a job= boredom, misery, stress, the feeling that the best years of your life are slipping away from you.
The Solution: Living rent free in a caravan (trailer) on a farm.
Yes indeedy ratracers I'm becoming trailer trash- I was sat in work a couple of weeks ago, my mind numbed by the pointless repetitive tasks I perform, thinking to myself, 'wasn't I supposed to be getting away from this and working on festivals and so forth'. Yes but the rent needed paying, the bills were mounting so back to the office I had to go. Then in a flash of light, road to Damascus style I saw the answer- My parents have a caravan, my aunt and uncle have a farm- I AM THE DREAM WEAVER!
So come next month I'll be living on the farm, spending my time roaming around on my bike, fishing, hiking, foraging for food, painting, reading, working at festivals, doing odd jobs and volunteer work, lying in the sun, surfing, swimming and generally being free.
Comfort and convenience just isn't worth the endless stress of pointless jobs done grudgingly to little applause.

Multi-Link Monday
So I got a lot of good feedback for last week's Multi-Link Monday so here is another one for you. Some quizzes and some other nonsense for you to enjoy when you have time.
• 50 states was just a warmup. This quiz (once you click through, the timer begins) gives you 10 minutes to type all 192 UN member states. They want their official names, too, so "United Kingdom," not "England," and "Korea" is not going to be enough. I knew going in that there was no way I could get them all, but I was surprised by how much fun it was to try and remember as many as I could.
• I could link to something about "The Office" every single week, because I adore the show and there are plenty of great sites out there for it. My favorite recurring plot is the pranks Jim plays on hapless yet lovable Dwight. (Sending him faxes from the future, convincing him it's Friday when it's Thursday). Here's a fun list of the pranks. Perhaps you'll get some ideas to liven up your own co-worker relationships. HR would most definitely not approve.
• For the second week in a row, I'm grabbing a link from USA Today's Tech Space. "Lord of the Rings" fans, this is for you: The Battle of Helms Deep recreated in candy. Some people have way too much free time on their hands. This is also kind of sad, no?
• How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? The correct answer is, of course, ah-one, ah-two, ah-three, CRUNCH! But if you can't count to three, or if you're not so quick to crunch, here's the world's silliest product: A Tootsie Pop Lick-O-Meter keychain.

rhyming and stealing
The author looms above his page and thinks it strange that at his age
he can not find the proper words to describe his only world.
One would think that in a life where no two snowflakes are alike
one would have a brilliant rhyme for each and every bit of time.
(from Clutch: 'The elephant riders' one of the great lost albums of the 90's- check it)
What kind of rhyme is that Pete?

New Subtitle
The new subtitle is a quote from the Wu Tang Clan's Triumph. Its what we former English majors call a near rhyme or slant rhyme. Enjoy.

Multi-Link Monday
It's Monday, again. And I'm procrastinating, again. Why is it so hard to leap into another week's work? Here's a batch of six fun links for those times when you just can't look at another spreadsheet, file another document or answer another phone call.
• Here's a fun online quiz, but before you click this link, you need to know how it works. Once you click though, a 10-minute timer will start, and you'll have that time to type in all 50 state names. Spell them correctly, of course, and hit "enter" after each one. When you've typed them all, or your 10 minutes if up, the game is over. I began by thinking of states that I'd visited or where friends lived, then trying to fill in the rest from my mental map of the country. However you do it, it's pretty interesting to see what states come first -- and last -- to your mind. Are you ready? GO! (Via Metafilter.)
The pie-eating game, in which you have 15 chomps to make an entire online pie disappear. Play at your own risk. This game is seriously addictive. The best I could get was 16. I was never very good at all that space-allocation stuff.
• Everyone has one: A book, usually from childhood, that you remember vividly, with one exception...the title. If you've got a question, you can post details of the book at "What's That Book?" and ideally, someone who knows will provide the title. (Via USA Today's Tech Space.)
• Do you know about Hand Puppet Movie Theatre? Hilarious movie parodies featuring hand puppets spouting the lines. Even a hand puppet of George Lucas makes an appearance in the "Star Wars" films. "Serenity" and "Spider-Man" are my favorites.
• We always have had to live with our pets for a few days or a week before we're able to settle on an ideal name for them. But if you're really stumped, Iams pet food has a site that will suggest names based on your pet's personality. I have to say, I think their names are pretty simplistic -- I mean, Bingo, Bo and Boots? But it's still fun to play with.
• Don't need a pet name? How about a monster name for yourself? I'm R.A.N.D.Y - Ravenous Abhorrent Nightmare From The Dreaded Yonder, as you can clearly see below.
Well hope you enjoyed those. NOW GET BACK TO WORK, you slackers!!

Top three jobs if...
... time, space, qualifications and sea sickness were not an issue:
1. Pirate (but a nice one, and before guns were invented- safe sex and pillage!).
2. Travelling Lava Lamp salesman in late 1960's. ( get to jet between San Fransisco and London, and is as easy as shooting shooting fish in a psychedelic barrel).
3. Percussionist in Jimi Hendrix's 'Band of Gypsies' (just tap away on the congas, watch Jimi do his thing, score with the less ambitious groupies).
