Steve the confused and frustrated apartment manager
So I went to Randy's old apartment to pick up the laptop he left behind. I was a little leery of doing this, knowing the condition he left the place in, I was worried about running into an angry landlord out for blood looking for anyone connected to the son of a bitch that left him with the awful job of disposing of a refrigerator that had been off for last month or so, with food still in it. What I found was a friendly old chap named Steve. I told him I was a friend of Randy's and that I needed to pick up a few things, specifically a laptop that he had left. Steve asked me to come outside, he said he was tired of the smell. He asked my name, I told him. He asked if it was true that Randy had lit out to Alaska. I told him that was true. He said I could go on in and take whatever I could find. I went to Randy's bedroom looking for his laptop. Sadly it was not there. Steve had come inside with me. His mood was best described as perplexed. Steve just couldn't wrap his head around the concept of someone leaving an apartment in such a state. I can't say I much disagreed with Steve. Broken beer bottles littered the floor. Closets were left half full of clothes. Blankets, a door mat, old mail, dishes in the sink, old porn videos on the floor. A stereo sort of half boxed up. There was a bed frame, but no bed. I was tempted to take a few things that I could use around the house but I didn't want to seem like a looter, leaving Steve only with the detritus. Steve told me that the Goodwill had been by earlier, but didn't want anything, the place smelled too badly they had said. Steve expressed regret that he had entered the apartment without prior notice but that the neighbors were complaining about the smell and that he had suspected that someone, or something had died inside. He described to me that the refrigerator had "blown up." I'm not sure what he meant, but I'm quite sure that whatever had ended up growing inside that fridge was capable of breaking free in a dramatic escape attempt possible resembling an explosion. When I told Steve that I didn't see a laptop, he said he didn't know nothin about no laptop but that there was a computer monitor in the closet. No thanks. Steve had funny way of continuously looking around, as if surveying a war zone and seeing some of his best friends splayed out, limbs in places they shouldn't have been. His expression said to me, "I've seen some fucked up shit...but this...". The question he kept repeating verbally was "why". As in, "why would he leave this..." why "would he leave that...". I felt bad for Steve, he had quite a bit of work ahead of him. I told him I had a pick-up truck and that maybe I could swing by later in the week and pick some stuff up. It wasn't true. I'll never go back there again. I took down Steve's number and told him that I would asked randy to give him a call. I think Steve wanted a call back, more than anything just to have that question answered.."why". Just as I was leaving Lauri had finished getting Randy' mail, a foot high stack of bills and magazines like Forbes and Car Craft. Lauri said she wanted the lamp she had given Randy back. So I went back in, only to find Steve still standing there surveying the carnage, shaking his head.
Sorry Steve, there is only one answer to this conundrum and you missed him by six days.
Epilogue
I never did find Randy's laptop and I noticed right away that Steve was wearing Randy's Alaska baseball cap, and I had for a minute suspected that Steve had helped himself to the laptop. Happily, I found out that Randy's aunt had beat me there and collected the laptop, so it's on it's way safely to Alaska.

43'd from Ichima
So this is actually pretty embarrassing but its a good story so I'm gonna tell it. Me and Lauri got 43'd (half of 86's you have to leave but you can come back) from Ichima Sushi. Here goes...
So we ordered some sushi. Was it a lot? I don't know we ordered alot of small stuff like a couple of spicy tuna rolls and some salmon and yellow tail sushi. Then we ordered a few specialty rolls you know Rainbow, crunch, philly, etc.
The waiter takes our little sheet without saying a word. But 2 minutes later he's back.
"I just wanted make sure you wanted all these rolls"
"Yes" we said.
"It's a lot of Food!" He said
"We know..."
"Okay..." he mutters tentatively.
The rolls begin coming. One after another. As if no one else can eat until our huge order has been filled. We are enjoying our dinner, eating slowly as the rolls begin to pile up. We have 4 rolls that we are picking from. Here comes the waittress...
"umm I just wanted to know if you really wanted the rest of the rolls you ordered..."
I sigh. These signals are none too subtle.
"umm what do we have left"
"a philly roll, an in and out tuna roll, and a eel avacado roll."
They all sound so delicious why would we not want these rolls? But clearly Ichima is worried that our guts will burst open with raw fish and they will be forced to mop it up?
so I say "okay just bring us the philly roll and thats it."
So she does it, none too happy I might add to risk an explosion.
We finish the last of our food and the first waiter comes over and says "so you cancelled two rolls?" with that oh so smug I told you so giggle.
Bastard.
Here's the thing...this was not an "all you can eat" situation. we were paying for everything we ordered. Here's the other thing...you can go to the same sushi place on different nights and get different portions. you can get a spicy tuna roll that is tiny and only four pieces, or you can get some sushi that is a 1 inch x 1inch piece. So I order a lot. So what?
So by now, you're wondering, "how much could they have possibly ordered to warrant that kind of response?" Okay well here's the list, try not to judge us too harshly.
2 yellow tail sushi
2 salmon sushi
1 rainbow roll
2 spicy tuna rolls
1 ichima roll
1 crunch roll
1 eel avo roll
1 philly roll
1 in and out tuna roll
Yes, looking at it, it is quite a bit but you never know how small those sushi pieces are gonna be. Anyway, here I sit, satisfied, but not bursting. I wanted to be bursting...

What's Up Fatlip
Feelin' downtrodden
Fresh kid turned rotten
I can't believe I'm like E then I'm coppin
Over the years seems like I'm gettin' dumber
Reminiscing to a time when I was younger with a hunger
Full a dreams, determination, self-esteem
But now it seems they hesitate to be on my team
You know the routine, when you winnin' they grinnin'
All up in your face, like they was wit' you from the beginnin'
But on the flipside,
When you washed up like a riptide
Fools clown 'bout how you slipped and let shit slide
Beside the fact
My voice is wack
Clowns runnin' around, talkin' 'bout I smoke crack
Ain't got no homies that got my back
Yeah I'm a brotha, but some times I don't feel black
My girl is white
My game aint tight
Niggas who ain't seen me in a while be like "Dude, you aight?"
Who am I kiddin', who am I foolin'
When they be like "What's up Fatlip?," and I say "Coolin'"
Blowin' like a sucka almost every day
In the back of your mind you prob'ly thinkin' I was gay
But naw, I'm just a bitch ass nigga
The type that get jacked if I's a rich ass nigga
See I been a loser just about all my life
Type that try turn a ho to a housewife
What do you expect
I give respect
And feel for hoes niggas keep in check
I'm far from hard
Emotionally scarred
On Pico Boulevard
I was regarded as a retard
I make myself sick
Get on my own nerves
Immature, insecure,
Grown up nerd
Has-been MC
On a label that's unstable
Choppin' bliggy on a table
Who am I kiddin', who am I foolin'
When they be like "What's up Fatlip?," and I say "Coolin'"

Things that drive me absolutely insane
So, I know that every time that I blog (few and far between) it’s always some sort of complaint or bitch session (except for the Lauri my hero blog), but that’s how I roll. Here are a few things that you may call pet peeves, but I simply call them things that drive me fucking crazy. This was inspired by a shitty driver on the way to work the other morning that committed # 1.
1. When people wash their windshield on the freeway. Hey Asshole, there are people who are driving behind you that now have your dirty water and washer fluid all over their car. This especially pisses me off when I am the car behind said culprit or when I have just come from the car wash. Have some courtesy and do that shit when your car is at a complete stop.
2. Couples who go out to eat and sit in a booth, but sit on the same side. If no one is meeting you, just fucking separate for one meal. Plus, who wants to be elbowed for an entire meal when you can sit across form each other and gaze into each others eyes.
3. People who insist on touching my face. I have no idea where your hands have been or when the last time you washed them was, so keep them the fuck off of my face. I don’t wash my face for nothing.
4. People who call my job and have no information nor are they willing to find it, but want me to help them. On a daily basis some retard ass customer calls my job and wants some information about their order (i.e. order status, payment information, tracking, etc.), which is fine; however when I attempt to assist them the inevitable happens. When I ask for the item number purchased, or the user id the item has been purchased under, the answer is “no, I don’t have it, can’t you find my order another way?” No, I cannot. Once I had a guy get angry with me because he had no information to offer, no item #, no, user name, not even what he had purchased, and when I explained that I could not locate his order without any information he said “What do you mean you can’t locate my order, I thought if I called you would just know.” What!!?? Was he serious? Now I’m supposed to be a psychic. Actually this one is pretty much summed up as I don’t like dumb people.
5. People who ask if you’re okay when you’re crying. It’s just so stupid, if I’m crying I am obviously NOT okay, genius!

Fare Thee Well...
A sad reality is now coming to fruition, Randy is leaving Southern CA for the wilds of Alaska. And soon. His flight leaves Thursday morning at around 8am. I'd like to send him off with a proper hangover, so lets do it up right and meet at the Crown on Wednesday evening, to say your goodbyes and Fare thee wells. In the mean time feel free to stop by his apartment and pillage all his shit that he won't be able to take with him. (I got dibs on the table and ice chest so keep your grubby hands off.) If you've always wanted a Duck hunting couch, chair, or ottoman now is your chance.
Tell all your Pasadena friends that the man largely responsible for Casa De Moe is heading for greener pastures.
With a little luck and hard work, it won't be too long before we see him down in these parts again.
Please Be There!

Things you don't need...
It's a funny thing about having slighty more money than you need. You end up buying some crazy shit sometimes. Let me list for you some of the purchases that I've made over the last few weeks:
1. Buck Knife that has plyers, flat and phillips screw drivers, and a can opener. It can be opened with one hand, in case you're "in a tight spot".
2. Remember that video game for the PS one called Intelligent Qube? Probably not because they sold so few of them that it's now considered sort of a collector's item. Well I dug that game but never bought it when it was new. I found it on Amazon.com for about twice what it originally sold for. (it was still way cheaper than the eBay price)Yeah...I bought that.
3. Custom made vans. on vans.com you can put together your own slip-ons or old school shoe. I made a pair of dark brown old-school shoes. Sure they won't be here for 5-7 weeks, but what the hell.
4. Boony hats. I actually went to an army surplus store and bought a solid green army boony hat. Why? I needed a sun hat for hiking and I like the small brim. You also can't beat the fact that it has a strap around it so that if I need to camoflauge my head I can stick some branches in there. I'm gonna wear it camping and there's nothing you cunts can do about it. Oh yeah, and I also bought a matching one for Lauri.
Yeah, pretty crazy. I should probably stop all this frivolous spending and go put some of that surplus in a CD or something. These are all pretty minor purchases so I don't feel bad about it, but they are also things that I thoroughly don't need.

The Chicken is NOT in the pot and there are no biscuits on the griddle
Pass this along to everyone you know. Sometimes you can go to more than one KFC and they will both be out of basic menu items like Biscuits or chicken legs. I'm not kidding, isn't this a little like McDonald's running out of Big Macs? Anyway I wasn't too upset, you shouldn't eat that stuff anyway, they torture chickens.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY MOFO'S!!!
I'd just like to wish everyone a good 4th July on behalf of your loyal colonial subjects here in Britain (although one day we'll both be swollowed up by China).
Haven't had many chances to post due to lack of internet in my caravan (and lack of electricity, and running water) Am having an interesting summer being work shy, long haired, smelly hippie scum (I'd dodge the draft too if we had one). Fight the Power.

In the bar that I will open someday
Well my bar would pretty much the same as the 2 previous posts. Air Hockey and Pinball (preferably the Johnny Nemonic one) : check! Pete's Beers on tap : check! No dress code : check! VIP Parking for friends, family, and guests of honor : Check! But I have a few changes:
1. Sports on big sports days saturday college football and sunday NFL football. For MLB only the playoffs. Of course the NCAA Basketball Tourney.
2. Killians Irish Red on tap
3. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and sometimes Sunday we will get great entertainment from the WWE (It will not conflict with the other sports don't worry).
4. A Video game tournament each month in all types of games.
5. Nachos and Buffalo Wings would be on the menu.
6. IPod Playlists will be the music in the bar.
7. WWE Memorabilia will be on the wall including the old co-op arcade game WRESTLEFEST!!!
8. All kinds of drinks will be served.
Some of these changes you wouldn't agree with but this is my bar. But this will be a great bar to watch sports and act crazy (but not too crazy). Maybe I might even start karaoke and then Porn Star Karaoke. Get a bunch of girl and guys to get to the bar. Most likely I would also like this bar in pasadena.

In the bar that i will someday open, dress shoes and high heels won't be allowed. Feel free to wear a tie, but it better be with flip flops. The atmosphere will be so laid back that it'll feel like your in your own backyard, which in certain areas, lawn chairs will be available. You will have the option of all and any alcohol beverages. Music will mostly be provided by a couple of guys playing pianos (piano bar style). For food: popcorn, peanuts, pretzels and every Saturday BBQ hot dogs. Pin ball machines, air hockey tables, pool tables and darts, will be in a special game room. And the most important thing that my bar will have that close friends and family only have access to...a VIP section for parking!

In the Bar that I will someday open...
In a the bar that I will someday open ties will be banned, leave them in the car they are making everyone else uncomfortable. You want to choke yourself? Keep in the privacy of your own home sicky.
There will be many many beers on tap, but especially Budweiser, Fat Tire, Mirror Pond, Tecate, Sierra Nevada, Stella Artois, Fuller's ESB, and Red Hook ESB, and yes for you poor lost souls who have not yet come to realize what real beer tastes like ...Coor's Light.
There will be a jukebox with 9 artists available. They will be as follows: Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Credence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, and Tom Petty. If you can't find something you like out of that list...what are you doing here?
There will never be a dress code. Act like a douchebag and your out, thats my dress code.
Once every couple of weeks there will be non-amplified entertainment. Provided your band sounds something like those listed above.
There will be free peanuts, and you can throw the shells on the floor.
The price and temperature of your beer will go up or down depending on how you treat the staff and other customers.(You'll have to be a real douche to pay more than $4).
There will be a fireplace. (It adds class)
There will be a chess board. (it invites an air of intellectualism)
Well Drinks will get you fucked up, provided you meet the dress code.
There will be a dart board. (it adds sharp objects flying through the air combined with cheap alcohol to counteract the class and intellectualism.)
And hopefully, there will be all of you fine people.

Saturday Night Fever
Having spent the last two nights sitting in my parent's backyard getting thrououghly wasted drinking gin and tonics (Jeff was right, a Sapphire and tonic might be the perfect summer drink) my body is no mood for another night of drinking. I sit here at my computer chugging water. It tastes so good when you are really thirsty. Lauri is at work, Randy is out East, and everyone else seems to be either out drinking, or out working. To be honest I just came back from visiting Lauri at my job. It felt pretty pathetic to be there on my night off, but it serves dual purposes. I was able to check up on my new crew. You see, I've accepted a "promotion" to Event Operations Manager. I now manage a crew of about 20 people that handle all equipment set-ups and janitorial duties around the facility. Its more of a lateral move stepping out of the lime light for a "back of house" position. It's more money and once I get things running smoothly, it will be more regular hours. Plus, no more answering phones all day and fighting with clients about money. Plus once we get our new facilities built it will become a huge job with lots of opportunities for growth. It's a good thing and I'm excited. So anyway, going down there tonight lets them know that the new boss has thier eye on them. But I'm home now and I'm wondering what the hell to do with the rest of the night.

no fun.
My monday is not going well. Its only 10am and i'm gettting angry. See there's this girl who was gone for like 4 months on maternity leave. Well she's been back now for over a month. During that month she was in my office on another computer that's in the room. She barely did any work. All she did was surf the internet, especially MySpace and Ebay. At some point, while checking out every single persons myspace page or maybe it was when she would purchase items on ebay, she put a super nasty virus on that computer. When my boss asked what she had been doing on that computer she gave all the wrong answers. The typical response would be something like "nothing". Her response "i go on myspace and ebay, i didn't do it!". My boss has been trying to delete this virus for over a month now. And this morning he thinks he got it. But thanks to this wonderful employee, we no longer have access to MySpace. Thank God i can get the Rat Race though. I totally blamed her this morning for it too. She's so dumb that she still doesn't realize that i was all her fault. So sorry Lynlee, no more morning emails. I guess i'll have to wait and see what's going on with everyone after 5pm. If its something that can be put on the blog, please do so. Because for now, this is my only access to the outside world.

Wow!
I can't believe its JUNE already! What the heck? Wasn't it just New Year's? Let's see, what does my June hold...well as lame as it sounds, the first week will be spent without Pete. He's going on a business trip for a week. I don't think we've been apart that long in years. I know what your all saying, "it's good to be apart every now and then". I agree, but i still don't want him to go. Then the following weekend i'm doggy sitting. After that its Father's Day (just a reminder for you all if you need it). I guess that's about it for June, scheduled stuff anyways. I hope the weather just keeps on getting warmer and the days get slightly longer. Hello All...
Hello all,
I thought maybe people might have some things they wanted to say on the blog but didn't want to post over Joe's picture. I've put his picture (my favorite of him) as a permanent feature on the blog. If you would like to post a something about Joe, a picture or a fond memory, you should feel free to do so, (anytime). I know when I find the words I might have a few things to say. Or if you have anything you want to post about anything, you should do that to. My hope is that, while a picture on a blog is a small tribute, it will help us to remember Joe as we move forward and tell the funny stories of our lives. If you feel like there is a picture or some text that would be more fitting, feel free to let me know and i'll incorporate that.

Let's Drink
I found this quote as I was randomly surfing web sites at work. Yes my job is that exciting. I feel it is one of the best arguments for drinking I have ever encountered. What do you think?
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine! That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

Week Day Off
What would you do with a weekday off? You would probably do something constructive like getting your oil changed, or laundry, or going to the dentist. I had today off and didn't do any of those things. Here's what I did. I wanted to get some new suits for work, my mardrobe is severly lacking these days. So I start at the bargain basement: JC Penny. I ask the guy for a dark blue suit and he says, "oh boy...I don't if we have anything like that..." Huh? Who doesn't sell a dark blue suit? He pulls something shiny and bright blue off the rack that's cut halfway down my thighs. If I were starting my new job as a pimp, this is the suit I would buy. Well its my fault for trying the bargain basement anyway, right? So I try for something a little more high class. On to Macy's. Macy's had some nice suits, but no one to help you find what you need and price tags that scared me away. Time to try the old standby, Men's Wearhouse. Both times I've been to men's wearhouse has been a good experience. They set upon you like vultures, but are able to immediately size you up and pull just want you need from the rack. This time, I got no love. I walk in, and there isn't anyone there. Some chick helping out another guy and nobody else. I can't pick out a suit on my own, I'd be lost. I walk around for a few minutes hoping to spotted by a salesmen on break or something. No dice. I walk out of Men's Wearhouse and get the hell out of the mall as fast as I could. All the suit buying wind had been taken out of my sails. By this time it's like 11am. (I hit the Mall pretty early so I can't really blame them for not having their A-teams on.) Inevitably I begin to think of lunch. Lunch is a very important activity in the weekday off. It signals the turn from morning to afternoon. So what should I don for lunch. McDonalds was screaming for me, but I didn't want this to turn into a McDonald's day. I resisted. Besides I still needed to kill about a 45 minutes before it was even acceptable to eat lunch. I decided to do what I do about every six months. Buy some comics. I head over to comics oddessey over by PCC. Because I don't buy regularly and single issues just whet the appetite i was looking at the collected editions. Damn they got expensive! What used to cost me $10 was now $25. Oh well, the quality of the paper and ink have gone way up so I guess it is what it is. I settled on a Marvel collection called Civil War where heroes fight against each other over whether they should register and work for the government. Pretty good so far. Anyone know when spidey changed in to an ultra gay red and gold costume, with Doc Oc style spider legs attached? I call Shenanigans on that.
So I head home with my new comic and an idea for lunch. Rolled Chicken Tacos from trader joes. Yummy. When I get home, I decide to couple the three tacos with some mac and cheese also from trader joes. Oh yeah and a bottle of beer (bad pete). I put in my netflix rental 12 Monkeys and I'm off. I watch 12 Monkeys. (Say what you will about him, Brad Pitt is good in that.) I read my comic, I start to doze off.....................................NO! This isn't a doze off day either. So I just sit for awhile, avoiding the news, I'm not in the mood to hear about the random violence at Virginia Tech today. I could go hiking, I could get my oil changed, I could try another Men's Wearhouse, there are a million things I could be doing. Not the least of which is checking my work email or voicemail so I don't walk into 20 messages tommorow. I just can't get motivated to any of it. So instead, I decide to engage in the creative activity of blogging. Maybe the brain stimulation will spark something useful. Well, that was the last 6 hours. I guess we'll see what the rest of the day holds.

2. Haylie Moe?? - This is a lot like the first one but this happened before with Haylie Duff (older sister of hilary). I delve into some facts about why I think she likes me.
3. Long Time written on Saturday October 8, 2005 - A long post about wrapping up Accepted and working on the cinematic gem The Fast And The Furious 3. I met some wierd people doing this movie and I let it out.
4. Finally Mileage And Scrubs - Working on Zodiac which was (Cronichles but then changed back to Zodiac). Then talking about finally working on Scrubs.
5. Something To Blog About written on Sunday March 26, 2006 - This blog is the infamous PornStar Karaoke Blog.

Long Time... No Post
Hey all of you guys out on the site. Anyhoo I was just gonna give you a quick update on what's up with me and more cool stuff. So I am now working at AC Co. Which is the big store we have here in Cordova. It's kinda like a toned down WalMart it has more groceries but it sells electronics, clothes, fishing equipment, and even guns and ammo ( and I'm not talking about the magazine). I left my job at The Reluctant Fisherman Restaurant where I was washing dishes. Not to be cocky but I thought I was better than that job and always thought of that job as a temporary job anyway. But now I have a new job but instead of the 50 percent discount I had for food at The Reluctant Fisherman I have a 15 percent discount at the store. But wait I can't use it for groceries that includes alcohol. I can use it for electronics, DVD's, fishing stuff, and probably guns. I don't need any of that stuff. I also work up at the register which is alot better than working with produce which is what I did my first 2 days but after I cut my thumb I told the manager I would perform better with customer service and he put me up at the front. I think I did pretty well too on friday and saturday. But this is temporary so I filled out an application for a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Job at the airport here. I take a test on wednesday and if I do well at it they will schedule an interview with me. I know I don't know alot about security but I bet you all of the guys knew nothing either before they got a job. This place is filled with crazy people too. Some bad stuff has happened too. I gave my dad 550 bucks to buy me a xbox360 with 2 games and a remote while he was in Anchorage. He bought it but before the day he left he found it was taken from his hotel room. I was furious when I heard this. He had no receipt either it was in the bag too. But he had the extended warranty from best buy which had his address and he gave it to them and got the serial number and gave it to the cops. Well this wednesday best buy told us it was returned on friday. So the person who stoile it got almost 600+ dollars that's not right. The manager didn't help either saying he was not responsible and wouldn't tell my Dad who cleaned the rooms that day. So I think he was in on it and you can't split a game system but you can split money. It sucks. Now I think he should've locked it in his car and that would've prevented this but whatever. Now he says he will get me another one which is not fair to either him or me. We are not rolling in cash here. But anyways I'm planning for a Vegas Trip in July and the tentative date will be july 9-11. But of course if I get another job I might be busy with that and I'm trying to get a girl to go who is in the same situation (might be busy with a job) she's getting a degree so she will probably getting interviews for a career job and I don't want her to give up a good careet to go to vegas. But I will let you in on more info about vegas as soon as I get it. I will try to blog my top 5 blogs written by me soon. But I need to go to sleep. Lates Guys.

another awkward pirroette is the general direction of hope and joy...
The problem: Rent+ Bills = need for money= a job= boredom, misery, stress, the feeling that the best years of your life are slipping away from you.
The Solution: Living rent free in a caravan (trailer) on a farm.
Yes indeedy ratracers I'm becoming trailer trash- I was sat in work a couple of weeks ago, my mind numbed by the pointless repetitive tasks I perform, thinking to myself, 'wasn't I supposed to be getting away from this and working on festivals and so forth'. Yes but the rent needed paying, the bills were mounting so back to the office I had to go. Then in a flash of light, road to Damascus style I saw the answer- My parents have a caravan, my aunt and uncle have a farm- I AM THE DREAM WEAVER!
So come next month I'll be living on the farm, spending my time roaming around on my bike, fishing, hiking, foraging for food, painting, reading, working at festivals, doing odd jobs and volunteer work, lying in the sun, surfing, swimming and generally being free.
Comfort and convenience just isn't worth the endless stress of pointless jobs done grudgingly to little applause.

Multi-Link Monday
So I got a lot of good feedback for last week's Multi-Link Monday so here is another one for you. Some quizzes and some other nonsense for you to enjoy when you have time.
• 50 states was just a warmup. This quiz (once you click through, the timer begins) gives you 10 minutes to type all 192 UN member states. They want their official names, too, so "United Kingdom," not "England," and "Korea" is not going to be enough. I knew going in that there was no way I could get them all, but I was surprised by how much fun it was to try and remember as many as I could.
• I could link to something about "The Office" every single week, because I adore the show and there are plenty of great sites out there for it. My favorite recurring plot is the pranks Jim plays on hapless yet lovable Dwight. (Sending him faxes from the future, convincing him it's Friday when it's Thursday). Here's a fun list of the pranks. Perhaps you'll get some ideas to liven up your own co-worker relationships. HR would most definitely not approve.
• For the second week in a row, I'm grabbing a link from USA Today's Tech Space. "Lord of the Rings" fans, this is for you: The Battle of Helms Deep recreated in candy. Some people have way too much free time on their hands. This is also kind of sad, no?
• How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? The correct answer is, of course, ah-one, ah-two, ah-three, CRUNCH! But if you can't count to three, or if you're not so quick to crunch, here's the world's silliest product: A Tootsie Pop Lick-O-Meter keychain.

rhyming and stealing
The author looms above his page and thinks it strange that at his age
he can not find the proper words to describe his only world.
One would think that in a life where no two snowflakes are alike
one would have a brilliant rhyme for each and every bit of time.
(from Clutch: 'The elephant riders' one of the great lost albums of the 90's- check it)
What kind of rhyme is that Pete?

The new subtitle is a quote from the Wu Tang Clan's Triumph. Its what we former English majors call a near rhyme or slant rhyme. Enjoy.

Multi-Link Monday
It's Monday, again. And I'm procrastinating, again. Why is it so hard to leap into another week's work? Here's a batch of six fun links for those times when you just can't look at another spreadsheet, file another document or answer another phone call.
• Here's a fun online quiz, but before you click this link, you need to know how it works. Once you click though, a 10-minute timer will start, and you'll have that time to type in all 50 state names. Spell them correctly, of course, and hit "enter" after each one. When you've typed them all, or your 10 minutes if up, the game is over. I began by thinking of states that I'd visited or where friends lived, then trying to fill in the rest from my mental map of the country. However you do it, it's pretty interesting to see what states come first -- and last -- to your mind. Are you ready? GO! (Via Metafilter.)
The pie-eating game, in which you have 15 chomps to make an entire online pie disappear. Play at your own risk. This game is seriously addictive. The best I could get was 16. I was never very good at all that space-allocation stuff.
• Everyone has one: A book, usually from childhood, that you remember vividly, with one exception...the title. If you've got a question, you can post details of the book at "What's That Book?" and ideally, someone who knows will provide the title. (Via USA Today's Tech Space.)
• Do you know about Hand Puppet Movie Theatre? Hilarious movie parodies featuring hand puppets spouting the lines. Even a hand puppet of George Lucas makes an appearance in the "Star Wars" films. "Serenity" and "Spider-Man" are my favorites.
• We always have had to live with our pets for a few days or a week before we're able to settle on an ideal name for them. But if you're really stumped, Iams pet food has a site that will suggest names based on your pet's personality. I have to say, I think their names are pretty simplistic -- I mean, Bingo, Bo and Boots? But it's still fun to play with.
• Don't need a pet name? How about a monster name for yourself? I'm R.A.N.D.Y - Ravenous Abhorrent Nightmare From The Dreaded Yonder, as you can clearly see below.
Well hope you enjoyed those. NOW GET BACK TO WORK, you slackers!!

Top three jobs if...
... time, space, qualifications and sea sickness were not an issue:
1. Pirate (but a nice one, and before guns were invented- safe sex and pillage!).
2. Travelling Lava Lamp salesman in late 1960's. ( get to jet between San Fransisco and London, and is as easy as shooting shooting fish in a psychedelic barrel).
3. Percussionist in Jimi Hendrix's 'Band of Gypsies' (just tap away on the congas, watch Jimi do his thing, score with the less ambitious groupies).

Inspiration
So i knew i wanted to write something but i couldn't think of a thing. Then i read a post by Dave on his blog. It inspired me to write about the same kinda thing. The topic: i like my life right now. Sure there's a couple of things that could be tweaked, like i wish i was a millionaire but hey I'm not complaining....to much.
I work at a job that pays me well and i really don't have to be here. That seems to be a problem lately cuz i can easily convince myself to leave early or take random days off. The problem with that is cuz once summer comes around i won't have any accumulated time off to go on a vacation or something. At the civic things are cool too. I had a busy month working almost 4 days a week there and it takes its toll. At the Morrissey concert i took a camera from someone and at the end of the night when i went back to go get it, it was stolen. I felt horrible. But the month now is slowing down and i'm back to a max of two days a week. With all that working though i was able to pay off my car! whoo hoo! i guess that's what it really comes down to, paying shit off.
Living with Pete is freaking awesome ( i won't go into to much mushy detail about that). The management is making tons of changes around the complex and i'm not a big fan. If you've been over recently you'll know what i'm talking about. New landscaping and new gates. The gates aren't necessary and they cut down a perfectly good palm tree to put in grass. I enjoy my time off and with that i clean and buy things. And i do like cleaning! I can't wait till it gets a bit warmer and we can all hang out in backyards and the sun doesn't go down till 8pm.
So anyways, to sum it all up...things are good. :)

Hot Fuzz!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know if it's made it out to you guys yet, but I saw the new pegg/frost/wright (shaun of the dead) film Hot Fuzz last night. It does for the Police/action genre what Shaun... did for zombie films, but with even more laughs and a bigger budget. Go see now!

Instinctive cheese makers and non ionising radiation
The title alludes to two of the reports I've leafed through this morning- the lack of security surrounding government files in this building is remarkable. I have access to all reports, including those marked 'confidential' and 'restricted'. although most of them seem pretty dull I'm sure a little research could turn up some interesting results. I have also casually asked my manager if taking a file out of the building would set off the security system- apparently it would not. It's not surprising how so many 'leaks' occur to the press- my local library has better security. While I'm in the area of politics I'd like to add my two cents worth to the debate going on over on Jeff's blog (for some reason the restrictions on this system allows me to blog but not to leave comments). I feel like you guys are having an intellectual dance around what I see as the main crux of the matter- All governments are liers and murderers. always have been, always will be, end of debate. Instead of us focusing on these things that divide us and simultaneously make us feel angry and helpless, let us concentrate on love, freindship, community and the things that unite us as human beings. And talking of such things I believe the possibility of me coming camping this year has been raised- if I can secure sufficient funds and time I would be honoured to attend.

Madman Ranting
Well I just felt like the new format of the "Life Outside The Rat Race" page called for a nice long post. Believe me the frustration of palpable over most of the posts of late being either pictures of or somehow relating to my continuing obsession with Star Wars. There just haven't been any really exciting revelations lately. I think finishing school and moving into a work-a-day life has somehow stunted my creativity. In fact, I know it has. I have tendency to go all in with any new endevour and the job is no exception and takes up a lot of my brainpower. (The parts I haven't managed to slowly annihilate with beer. Speaking of beer, we haven't been on the best terms lately. My age is catching up with me folks and while my tolerance for the sweet brown liquid is at an all time high, my tolerance for the after effects is pathetic. The nature of hangovers has changed. While I've figured out how to avoid becoming debilitated the day after, I still fall victim to the more subtle after effects. These after effects include: the charming phenomenon knwn as beer shits (all well and good if you've got a whole day to waste but not so easy to explain to your co-workers why your leaving the office and interrupting conversations heading to the bathroom with a sense of urgency every half hour or so.) Then there is anger. I don't know if any of you have experienced this before but I tend to get fucking angry a day or so after a decent bender. I could be doing nothing but watching TV, but if I drank too much the night before, I get overwhelming urges to through my shoe into the TV screen. Then of course there is the anxiety. Yet another new side effect of alcohol in my old age. I wake up with strange anxiety attacks the ngiht after or even 2 days after drinking too much. I'm sorry, I'm bringing you down. Don't worry, part of all this is my lack of exercise over the last 6 months. All that unused energy is manifesting itself in strange ways. But not to fear, I'm on the case. I've started doing First Water every chance I get. And its helped. Soon I'm going to have to upgrade to something harder, after all we have Half Dome looming just over the horizon. Speaking of which, you'll note in the links section of the blog I've change the name of the Webcam link to "The Half Dome Society" I suggest that those of you who are commiting to climb with me this summer, take a look at that page once a day or so. If you will permit me some advice I would say that there are two ways up that big rocky bastard, and that to either learn to absolutely hate it or absolutely love it. You can climb out of spite or out of a sense of connection. Immediately after doing it the last time, I swore that if I ever did it again it would be out of spite, out of a sense of revenge for the pain and humility inflicted on my last trip. Now that I have some distance I feel differently I feel like if I get in good enough shape by this summer to climb the rock with less hardship than last time, then I owe it a sense of gratitude. So I'm gonna go in with a good attitude and do what I always do when I hike, and thats just keep walking until the trail runs out. I'll go slow and I will enjoy myself. Thats not to say that I will denegrate the efforts of those that choose the other approach. Hate can be a powerful ally. (Here comes the obligitory Star Wars reference) You can think of Half Dome like the Emporer, "Release your anger, only your hate can destroy me." Or was that Vader? Anyway, I choose Yoda's advice when he says, "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."
What else? Oh Yeah I would like to formally apologize to Emily for missing you at the crown on your birthday. What can I say? I'm a bad cousin. It was just one of those things, the night got away from me and I couldn't make it. I owe you one.
Here's a list of songs you should download on your iTunes Right now:
Old 97's Time Bomb also Question
The Monkees Porpoise Song
Cat Stevens Tea For the Tillerman
The Coral Dreaming of you
Well thats long enough and thats all for now.

Another Valentine's Day
Another Valentine's day and I still don't have a valentine to spend it with. But of course the only women up here are all really old or really young so I am screwed either way. I'm just praying that soon I will get my job because I can't stand much more of this. I know everyone is thinking stop crying Alex but you don't know what it's like up here. If you lived here you would grow tired of being here because everything here is limited. Stores close at 8 restaurants close at 8. Can't drink because everyone is into everyones shit here. I want to be left alone if I had the job (Alaska Airlines) I'd be too busy working to worry and in my downtime I'd be planning trips to see you guys or playing my xbox 360. Right now my back is getting better from being hurt last thursday working at the church. Also working on HS Basketball games (I'm the sideline reporter). But other than that I'm doin nothing. I'm bored and need some big city life becuase that's who I am. Remember I'm "Hollywood" Alex Moe. Well I guess I should start thinking what to cook tonight cuz Momis sick and dad is going to Valdez. Well I just needed to vent kind of mad that I needed to change my blogger id to do that but whatever. Hey can I get my picture up on the blog too? Talk to you guys later!
Blogger Update
So...After getting some complaints about being able to access the "old Blogger" I've switched to the new one. So to post you'll have to set up an account with google as prompted by blogger. I did it and it only took a few minutes.
So Blog on!

Working for the Man
I am into my second week of working for the National Assembly for Wales (essentially a piss ant pseudo government for a piss ant pseudo country). Quite how I got the job is a mystery known only to the strange winds blown by employment agencies, it is however very timely as my adventure as a struggling artist was becoming more about struggle and less about art. Hopefully i'll be able to work this gig for a few months, then the conections/skills/ideas/delusional plans i've been making for the last couple of months will come to fruition in the summer, and i'll be back to my bohemian ways.
I am currently a 'reports officer' which seems to involve sitting around in a room full of files, going on the net, listening to your ipod and occasionally moving a file to another room in a different building where people are sitting around going on the net and listening to their ipods. I am fitting in well.
This will give me a large amount of time to write blogs, so hopefully any flashes of inspiration i have will make their way to the rat race (and perhaps encourage an upturn in the rather sluggish contribution rate of late?).
anyway, better go move a file, adios.

George Lucas Stole my DVD's
George Lucas, is the obvious culprit behind my Star Wars theatrical release DVD's being "lost" in shipping. For years he's tries to supress his original masterpieces with his very flashy but character assassinating "special edition". He doesn't want you to know that when he was younger, he thought better of having a song and dance number in Return of the Jedi. He doesn't want you to know that he once thought it was okay to be unsure of the good or evil of a particular character, thus having Han shoot greedo under the table before the little green bastard could get the drop on him.
But, fear not. Amazon is sending me a replacement shipment. Hopefully, these will arrive before Lucas can unleash his agents of evil. You would think that Hayden Christiansen would have something better to do with his time than doing Lucas' bidding and stealing DVD's from the post office anyway.

The Half Dome Society
I can tell by the strong reaction to my original post of the same name, that you are wondering (to yourselves apparently) What is "The Half Dome Society"? What I propose gentlemen (no girls allowed) is the formation of a group of men who make the commitment to begin training for an early to midsummer's summit bid of Yosemite's Half Dome. I will reserve a campsite, and handle the expedition logistics all you have to do is train, pay, and then climb. I propose one day to drive, one day for a warm-up Hike, one day for the summit bid, and a late departure on the day after the summit. Thats four days gentlemen. While the hike will be the physical focus of the trip, there is of course an...how shall I say it?... element of comraderie. Think about it gentlemen.

Welsh Health Warning
If anyone out there in blogger world was thinking of indulging in a sucidal batch of 'magic mushrooms' at around five in the morning, after drinking strong contintal beer all night, then let me advise against it. someone who's been known to go by the name 'red dragon' tried this on the weekend, and although he claimed to have seen God on his travels, he also saw alot of the bathroom floor, upclose and writhing. JUST SAY NO KIDS!

May nothing but happiness come to your door in 2007
Hope everyone had a good xmas and new year. Does american TV show the same films every year- in Britain it seems The Great Escape has somehow weaved its self into the very fabric of our christmas traditions-which seems to have encouraged the development of our low national self esteem- all the british guys have well prepared escape strategies involving fake passports, trains, cunning disguise, planes, etc. who gets the furthest? Steve 'the only american guy' McQueen, who just steals a bike and then out runs the entire german army and almost jumps the border into switzerland. i blame this film for Britains poor displays across all international sports and our support of misguided military coups, sorry liberations, in the middle east. anyway Happy New Year!

I'm bored!
I think there should be a new thing where people don't go to work between Christmas and New Year's. I'm seriously just sitting at my desk doing nothing. I come in at 8:30am and get my coffee and sit at my desk checking the internet and while doing this i am fully aware that my staff in the other room is also just sitting there and they are waiting for me to give them something to do. Well i got nothing for them or myself to do all week! So what do i do? I can only fake being busy for so long. I got 8 hours of faking to fill. All machines have been cleaned. Rooms have been cleaned. Paperwork is done. Any ideas?? I guess i'll go onto myspace.com and continue to search for people from back in the day to see if they have a page. Or there's always solitaire. *sigh*

The Year of Change
In this year old post, Lauri predicted that 2006 would be the year of change. I think she has been proven right, not only for herself but for a lot of you out there. Lets see if I can highlight some of the life changing stuff that happened over the course of the last year. i'll start with Lauri since it was her post. She wanted to get a new cheaper apartment, which she managed to do with the help of a new, awesome, roomate/ live in lover (lovah!). She wanted a new job, well she was offered a new job, but decided to turn it down because of the huge raise she got at her current job. Well done Lauri with making things happen. As for myself, I finished all my classes at Cal Poly finally and went from working part-time to being a dept. head over the course of the year. I finally moved back out of my parents house and got a new apartment with Lauri and I paid off my truck.
Aside from Lauri and me there have been a bunch of reisdence changes this year, lets see if I can remember them(I'm not including those of you that got married this year, you'll get your turn): Tim moved out of 511 and in with Bima. Tom moved down to...I don't even know what city that is, Alhambra? San Gabriel? Shiela ended up moving in with her sister in texas and then got a house of her own. Alex moved to Alaska. Our Welsh blogger Owen got an office job and then quit the office job, I'm sure causing several residential shifts.
Then there were the marriages: Amanda and Jeff, Melanie and Aaron, Bree and Ruben, Ed and Amy, who did I miss?
Yep, the year of change. I wonder what will 2007 bring? Will it be more of the same or more changes? I don't know but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Peter's brand
Just the other day we were sitting around the office talking about the beers we liked. I mentioned that the worst beer I ever tasted was a beer that had my name on it. Its that "Peter's Brand" shit that they sell at Trader Joe's, it friggin awful. So today one of the sales managers was really nice and bought me a couple of 6 packs for Christmas (she was not privy to the previous conversation) What was one of the six packs? Peter's Brand. (she was being clever and thoughtful and I appreciate it.) As I looked at that six pack, I thought to myself, how can this beer be as bad as i remember, is there any such thing as a "bad beer". Well I just cracked open the first of the six pack, and good god is it bad! It tastes like a normal beer that some scraped across their asshole before putting the bottle cap on. I think I will bring a class action suit for all the Peters in the wortld whose name this beer defames.
Beatles Rising
"Don't let me Down!"
For some reason this Beatles refrain became suddenly extremely relevant to me, one night when it was played on the George Nauri show on KFI. (Its what I fall asleep to.) I had the CD already but for some reason had not put it onto my iTunes yet. Strange how songs move in and out of your life, having relevance at certain times and falling into obscurity at others. I won't psychoanalyze myself as to why this song is suddenly important, but it certainly doesn't have anything to do with you fine people. MERRY CHRISTMAS, (Happy ch-iz-anikah to all you jewish mothahfuckas) I hope you all come by the parents house at some time on christmas eve for some Big Sandwich, eggnog, bloody mary's, beer or whatevers your poison.

Update on the Alaskan Asassin
Well I'm still up here this marks the longest time I've been in alaska with my parents. I'm still unemployed which pisses me and my parents off (Mostly MOM). But anyways I fill out applications and these are the responses I get : 1. A grocery store called Nichols The guy who was in charge of hiring told me "at church" that he would call me that week ... that was 2 weeks ago. 2. The community medical center would've been a great job with a good salary and benefits. I actually went to an interview at this one and I thought the interview went pretty well but I was wrong I got the call today said they were going to get someone else. But they said they were going to keep my application for "special jobs" I don't know what the hell that means. I need a job right now. It also threw a wrench in my plan to visit all you guys. I miss all you so much and I don't care if I'm being mooshy. Also it's been snowing for almost a week mixing with rain and it's supposed to snow through christmas which looks pretty but I have to shovel which sound easy but it starts to hurt. So you see I haven't blogged becuase nothing exciting has happened. My parents just did our (me and Randy) christmas shopping on tuesday... which means it will not be there christmas day aside from a couple presents. I need an xbox 360 and I doubt they are getting me one but who knows. Sometimes I think my life is a tv show and it's a wierd one at that. Actually I found a little something exciting on a wrestling website. TNA Wrestling which is the second popular wrestling aside from WWE is accepting resumes for interns during the summer and spring. I have to look into that. Last but not least bad news I have to go back to school. I came up here after they said I wouldn't have to go back to school. It's for an AA degree which I don't think it will help me. Especially getting it from a college where the head is an aunt who gossips. I swear that college is horrible when you are 4 points away from a B in a class and they give you a C because you didn't try to be a friend to them. I can't be a friend to a 40 year old woman teacher. I hope this situation changes quickly for the better. Like have a single girl my age show up. Well I guess that's all I can say about that. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Everybody!!!!!!
Christmas??!!!
Holy shit i can't believe its almost Christmas! I haven't even finished my shopping yet. I just started on Tuesday so i guess its all my fault. But i've been busy. I went to Texas to visit the family. It was freaking cold there! I took pictures of icicles on the plants it was so cold. I can't say i've ever seen actual icicles, it was weird. Then i came back for less than a week to work my ass off at work so that one of the managers could go to India for like a month. After all that work i went to Vegas! Pete and I lost our asses off. Oh! and if you were one of the ones who got drunk texted, we apoligize. We were in our room drinking till we couldn't feel feelings anymore and we wanted all of you to be there with us. So now there's nothing to look forward to till summertime. I think starting in the new year everyone should blog once a week. Just once a week is all. I think i can come up with something, you? Well i just wanted to say hi and i'm sure i'll see you all this weekend. later!

Clerks II
Funniest Line from "Clerks II":
"There's only one return and it aint of the king, its of the Jedi.."
"There's only one return and it aint of the king, its of the Jedi.."
I Miss My Moes
Alex has moved to Alaska and Randy is on business in Ft. Wayne. What the hell am I supposed to do? Hang out with my girlfriend? Fuck that!
I think you might dig this...
Hey Guys, i dont know if news of this monumental development in the history of our species made it to you, but i think you people should know. In Britain every 10 years the government conducts a census of the population (all a bit 1984 no?). One of the questions that is asked is 'what is your religon?'. during the last census in 2001, someone suggested putting down 'Jedi' in answer to this. well the idea spread, no doubt on the internet, and the reults are in- 390,000 british citizens are claiming Jedi as their religon, and there is now a campaign to get it recognised as an official religon. if it is, it will be the 4th largest in the UK! Two Jedi Knights have been on Sky News (our equivalent to Fox News), to pitch the case, then a 'representative' of the Jedi's had a debate with a religious commentator on why it should be officially recognised- and did quite well. does this mean that soon i'll be able to take George Lucas's birthday off as a holy day? i hope so, after all it's no more ridiculous than basing an entire belief system on a book written 2000 years ago, that was written at least a generation after then main characters had died, and has been changed many times since. These are not the Gods you're looking for.

Embrace the chaos!
So after my six months in an office things finally came to their logical conclusion. my manager (who is an obsessive compulsive, analy retentive control freak) took me off to a side room and told me that i was "undermining the organisation" and that i should stop criticising the managment, or leave. So i'm leaving, and going to work at an alternative education/ sustianable living centre, to organise carnivals and chop wood and stuff. Dont quite know how things are going to work out financially but i've decided that i have to do what makes me happy first and worry about the numbers later. i might burn some shirts in a symbolic goodbye to the ratrace, then get a big tattoo on my face.
